When You Cant Sleep at Night free essay sample
Entirely little woman, with your swollen eyes, okay demonstrate them to me? I let the voice of Austin Carlile stream into my mindfrom my earbuds as I sat on my bed and gazed out the window. The virus saturated my body through the window that isolated my tearâ stained face from the snow delicately skimming to the ground. I pushed my clench hand into my mouth to smother the following cry as it destroyed its way to my lips from where it counts in my stomach. As I sat alone in obscurity, I permitted myself to flounder in selfâ pity, my instabilities perplexing all my considerations. Around the hour of my sixteenth birthday celebration, I understood that I didnââ¬â¢t simply like young men? I enjoyed young ladies too.For months after my acknowledgment, I could scarcely sleep.I would lie wakeful for a considerable length of time, annoyed and apprehensive in light of the fact that the fascination I felt for people confounded me and left me feeling incorrectly, as there was something within me that was failed and should have been fixed. I decided to fulfill others instead of remain consistent with myself. It had been ver y nearly 96 hours since I had last dozed and I could scarcely function.I in the end capitulated to my bodyââ¬â¢s urgent requirement for rest, yet not so much as after an hour, I woke up due to one more nightmare.ââ¬Å"I despise youâ⬠, ââ¬Å"I abhor youâ⬠, ââ¬Å"I loathe youâ⬠.Those three words went through my head over and over as I attempted to quiet my breathing and keep down my tears. So I came out.Slowly at first.I told my closest companion, and when he revealed to me he despite everything needed to be my companion I felt the weight I had been taking around begin to fall away of my shoulders. With every positive reaction I got, I developed increasingly more happy with being transparently bisexual.I had the option to compel my brain to close down and I could rest through the night. The bad dreams turned out to be less regular and I wasnââ¬â¢t continually tormented with nervousness and selfâ consciousness. I still every so often end up restlessly scratching my arm, or wringing my hands because of the fits of anxiety welcomed on by my dread of dismissal, and there are still evenings when I just rest for an hour or two.But thatââ¬â¢s alright, the circumstance Iââ¬â¢m in has no convenient solution and the more sure with myself I become, the less continuous these occasions occur.Slowly grasping my sexuality has instructed me that tolerant myself the manner in which I am ought to be one of, if not the, most significant pieces of my life and I shouldnââ¬â¢t penance who I am to satisfy the assessments of others, in such a case that they genuinely are significant, theyââ¬â¢ll acknowledge me as well.

These physical reactions are what we call the fight or flight response (also known as hyperarousal or acute stress response). This is when the perception of a threat triggers a cascade of physiological changes as the brain sets off an alarm throughout the central nervous system. As a result, the adrenal glands will start pumping out hormones, called adrenalin and noradrenalin, which place the body on high alert to either confront the threat (fight) or leave as quickly as possible (flight). These physiological changes are not incidental but rather serve specific, important functions: Rapid pulse and respiration increase oxygen intake for rapid or prolonged action. The conversion of the bodys fuel source (glycogen) to fuel (glucose) allows for a burst of energy in muscles. The dilation of the pupils is considered an evolutionary response meant to allow more light into the eye to see better at night. The fight or flight response is reflexive, allowing us to act before thinking (such as slamming on the brakes to avoid an accident). When the Fight or Flight Response Is Abnormal While the fight or flight response is a vital self-defense mechanism, some people have an overly sensitive response. For these individuals, the physiological features occur either far too frequently or inappropriately. There may be several reasons for this: An imbalance in brain hormones such as anxiety and bipolar disorders??Post-traumatic distressA history of verbal or physical abuse It is not only exhausting to spend so much time in a state of high alert, but it can also be physically damaging. The physical consequences of acute stress can include high blood pressure, migraine headaches, and the exacerbation of fibromyalgia, chronic gastritis, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) symptoms. Treatment In those with an abnormal fight or flight response, treatment more often involves counseling and psychotherapy to better identify the psychological or psychiatric roots. In some cases, pharmaceutical treatment may be indicated, particularly if related to severe anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).?? In other cases, self-help techniques may help alleviate the involuntary physiological symptoms associated with the fight or flight response. One such technique involves a three-part breathing exercise which allows a person to voluntarily slow the breathing, the action of which can also bring down both the heart rate and adrenaline response.?? The exercise, which incorporates some of the technique of pranayama breathing in yoga, involves six basic steps: Find a place thats quiet. Turn off the phone and close doors and curtains.Sit in a straight-back chair with both feet on the ground, or lie on the floor.Place your right hand on your stomach and your left hand on your rib cage so that you can physically feel your inhalation and exhalation.Start inhaling by expanding the belly outward, allowing it to inflate like a balloon.Next, move your breath into the rib cage and all the way into the upper chest.Exhale by reversing this action, contracting your abdominal muscles as you finish. You can practice this in one-minute intervals with the aim of gradually increasing to five minutes. The practice may not only help alleviate acute attacks but can be used as a means of de-stressing as part of a daily routine. Octavian Augustus Glossary Entry
Octavian, known to posterity as the Emperor Augustus Caesar, was the first emperor of Rome, the first of the Julio-Claudian Dynasty, the adopted son of his great-uncle Julius Caesar, and possibly the most important man in Roman history. Octavian or Augustus lived from 63 B.C.-A.D. 14. Timeline of Octavian Augustus The date at which he began his rule could be either 31 B.C. when the forces of Augustus under Agrippa defeated those of Mark Antony and Cleopatra at the Battle of Actium, or in 27 B.C. when Octavian became Augustus, a term of honor awarded him by the Senate. Octavian Augustus Achievements Octavian Augustus reformed the Praetorian Guard and laws on marriage and adultery, he had the power of a tribune and was Pontifex Maximus (head priest). He extended the boundaries of the Roman Empire, caused the Pax Romana, and built up the city of Rome. Misfortunes of Augustus Reign Through the long years of his reign, Octavian Augustus put an end to the already seriously decaying republican system of government. It was under his rule that Varus suffered a disastrous defeat in Teutoberg Wald, putting a temporary end to territorial ambition beyond the Rhine. His own daughter and grand-daughter defied Octavians lofty moral stance. Although both partners were demonstrably capable of producing children, Augustus failed to produce an heir with Livia, his wife during his long term as emperor. Ultimately, Octavian Augustus had little choice but to make his begrudging son-in-law, Livias son Tiberius, his successorââ¬âeven though Tiberius wasnt much to his liking.

Definition and Examples of Clang Association
Clang association is word choice determined not by logic or meaning but by a words similarity in sound to another word. Also known as an association by soundà orà clanging. Clang association sometimes influences semantic change. For example, originally the noun fruition meant enjoyment, pleasure before its association with fruit developed the sense fulfillment, realization (John Algeo in The Cambridge History of the English Language: 1776-1997). Clang Association and Semantic Change Similarity or identity of sound may likewise influence meaning. Fay, from the Old French fae fairy has influenced fey, from Old English fà ¦ge fated, doomed to die to such an extent that fey is practically always used nowadays in the sense spritely, fairlylike. The two words are pronounced alike, and there is an association of meaning at one small point: fairies are mysterious; so is being fated to die, even though we are all so fated. There are many other instances of such confusion through clang association (that is, association by sound rather than meaning). For example, in conservative use fulsome means offensively insincere as in fulsome praise, but it is often used in the sense extensive because of the clang with full; fruition is from Latin frui to enjoy by way of Old French, and the term originally meant enjoyment but now usually means state of bearing fruit, completion (Rex, 1969); fortuitous earlier meant occurring by chance but now is generally used as a synonym for fortu nate because of its similarity to that word. (T. Pyles and J. Algeo, The Origins and Development of the English Language. Harcourt, 1982) President George W. Bushs Clang Associations [George] Bushs spontaneous public statements also suggest that he listens to and uses words based on their sound, not on their meaning--a practice known in psychology as clang association. This accounts for many of his famous malapropisms: commending American astronauts as courageous spacial entrepreneurs, referring to the press as the punditry, wondering whether his policies resignate with the people, warning Saddam Hussein that he would be persecuted as a war criminal after the fall of Iraq. (Justin Frank, Bush on the Couch. Harper, 2004) Clang Association in the Language of Schizophrenics [E]arly investigations into the language of schizophrenics (see Kasanin 1944) came upon the phenomenon of a spate of talk being touched off by the sound of some word in a prior utterance (so-called clang association), a phenomenon which students of conversation will recognize as not uncommon in ordinary talk. But having found it through the close examination of schizophrenic talk (talk which could be so closely examined by virtue of its speakers disgnoses), it was taken as specially characteristic of such talk. So also with childrens talk, etc.(Emanuel A. Schegloff, Reflections on Talk and Social Structure. Talk and Social Structure: Studies in Ethnomethodology and Conversation Analysis, ed. by Deirdre Boden and Don H. Zimmerman. University of California Press, 1991) The Lighter Side of Clang Associations All right, Cranberry said. Your trouble is, you cant pass a word up. Youre a compulsive punner. . . .There is something we call Klang associations. Its a sort of chain punning, and is characteristic of certain encysted types. Your pattern is a complex and refined variation of these word salads. It is also, I answered coolly, if I am not mistaken, the method by which James Joyce constructed Finnegans Wake. . . .At length, my habit cleared up. . . . [W]hen a dinner companion exclaimed that she had glimpsed three wedges of southbound geese over her rooftop in one day, I [did not] succumb to the temptation to murmur, Migratious!(Peter De Vries, Compulsion. Without a Stitch in Time. Little Brown, 1972)

Should Prostitution Be Legalized - 1111 Words
Prostitution has been around for a very long time. There has been great debates over the last few decades about prostitution law reform. It is accepted by some, denied by others, or just forbidden. Prostitution is that one thing that people do and does not get brought up for discussion after the fact. It is what some people call dirty and distasteful. But prostitution whether legalized or not will continue to happen. I will argue that prostitution should be legalized because it would bring more benefit than negative consequences in terms of rights, safety, health and well-being. The paper has the following structure. In section, I will explain what critics have to say about legalization of prostitution. In section 2, I will argue for legalization and how it comes at a far less risk than keeping the law the way it is. In section, I will talk about possible objections my view and give a response. I will begin by saying, in New Zealand, prostitution has be decriminalized since 2003. It is legal for any citizen over the age of 18 to sell sexual favors. Also legal is the ability to run a brothel. Sex workers right are guaranteed through employment and human rights legislation. Analysis of the Consumer Behaviour
Question: Discuss about the Analysis of the Consumer Behaviour. Answer: Introduction Each and every business organization wants to promote their services and products by understanding the perception of the consumers. Management of any organization must have to judge the needs of the customers so that appropriate planning can be done. In this paper some holiday destinations have been highlighted (Craig-Lees, Joy and Browne, 1995). By analyzing the feedbacks of three respondents it could be observed how different elements of a place can influence the decision making process of consumers. Some factors have been highlighted in this paper like cost, accommodation facilities, activities and transportation etc. Through this paper it could be observed how these things matter for a consumer to choose a place for holiday. Analysis of personality theory to judge the behaviour of respondents Respondent 1, 2 and 3 have been selected for the analysis purpose. Personality theories have been considered in this case so that characteristics of the respondents can be understood. These theories have been related to the personal behaviour of respondents and its impact on their perception has been showcased. Differences in the ranking evaluation Each and every respondent has shared views over the choices of destination. They have stated their views by giving particular rank to different segment of a destination. According to the personality theory every single individual possess a significant personality or characteristics. People take their decisions on the basis of their personal behaviour. This is the reason behind the changes in human perception (Cant, Brink and Brijball, 2006). Personality theory also illustrates that different individual bear different trait. The question is why they rank differently in the segments. Answer of this question is crystal clear, they posses different personality and they rank the segments by relating with their character and ideologies. In this case three respondents have ranked differently and through this way it could be said that they bear different personality. Different choices in the case of choosing holiday destinations As discussed earlier people take decisions on the basis of their personality, same things happened at the time of choosing holiday destination. Personality theory is comprised of three important personality factors like superego, ego and identity. It has been categorized by tripartite theory. People take decision by identifying and observing their own needs and requirements. Respondent 1, 2 and 3 have been taken in this analysis purpose. After having the analysis and survey report it could be said that three people have different opinion over the choice of destination (Ehrenberg and Pyatt, 1971). Each of the individual chooses the place which suits their personality and nature. Respondent 2 is a 43 year old female who love to spend time with her husband and as she wants to do innovative things, enjoying wine with her husband would be great. Respondent 3 is a 51 year old male Chinese candidate who showed interest to visit Hong Kong with his wife and kids. As he is Chinese and aged, ha ving food safari in Hong Kong can give the family enjoyment. Respondent 1 is 19 year old energetic and extrovert bachelor who wants to visit Las Vegas by observing multiple activities like casinos etc. Through this way changes of decision with personality can be identified. Analysis of demographic variables to judge the behaviour of people Demographic variable is consisted of multiple elements like age, gender and income level etc. It can be said after having the analysis report that people take decision by focusing on their age, income level and family condition etc. Three respondents also choose favourable destinations on the basis of demographic theories. Analyses of their choices have been discussed below in a detailed manner. Differences in ranking evaluation Ranking decisions are highly influenced by the demographic factors of the respondents. People usually take decisions on the basis of their demographic factors. For example respondent 1 ranked Las Vegas number 1 destination as the person found multiple activities in this zone. At the time of taking decisions respondents always look for cost and duration. For this reason respondents gave poor rank to option 5 and options 6 due to the less duration. On the other hand 51 year old male gave 1 to option 4 as he found multiple activities and duration is also good(Evans, Moutinho and Raaij, 1996). The person wants to spend time with his wife and kids, for this reason he is looking for some activities. He ranked poor for option 6 as there are no as such activities present. Respondent 2 is a married woman who wants to visit to Barossa Valley with her husband for having a good time. Respondent 2 marked accommodation of option 3 is poor as she doesnt like the cabin facilities. Being a management consultant respondent always desires for a better transportation facilities and for this reason except Spain she marked all the destination poor on the basis of transportation, still respondent 2 believe Barossa Valley is a good place to spend happy time with husband. Differences in the destination choice Destination choice is also influenced by the demographic variables. It has been observed through analysis that people choose the places of preferences on the basis of age, gender and other different demographic factors. Respondent 3 belongs from Chinese origin and this is the reason behind the selection of Hong Kong. Age factor also playing an important role in this case, a 51 year old male always want to give enjoyment to his family and this is the same thing respondent 3 is doing (Lageat, Czellar and Laurent, 2003). Costing of Hong Kong is also suitable for respondent 3s income level. Respondent 1 is energetic by his age nature and for this reason he choose Las Vegas where he can get different types of activities. A University student can afford the costing of the Las Vegas. Respondent 2 is 43 year old female and her costing is matched with option 6. For this reason she chooses the place. Recommendation In the overall paper feedbacks of three people on different places or destinations have been shown. By the help of this analysis it could be observed how demographic factors and personality theories impacts on the perceptions of the human being. Three different people of different personality and demographic background have been chosen for the analysis purpose. For analyzing and recommending the concept Las Vegas has been chosen. Characteristics aspects of likeliest consumers After having the overall analysis it could be said that Las Vegas is in huge demand among the customers due to its extra ordinary activities and fruitful ambiences. People can get multiple enjoyment tools by which they can refresh themselves. Six options were there and after having the survey result it has been observed that most of the respondents have preferred the accommodation facilities of Las Vegas. People also shared their interest over the Las Vegas activities. Cost of the place is also moderate and people showed that it is not too hard to expense money for this place (Purohit, 2007). Strategies for attracting consumers There are multiple theories present by which consumer behaviour could be judged. It is the sheer duty of any management to judge the perception of the consumers. In this paper three respondents and six destinations have been chosen for judging the perceptional views. For analyzing the overall matter, Learning and Memory theory has been considered. Learning theory is comprised of four elements like behaviorism, cognitive, social and Humanistic. After having the analysis it could be said that destination attraction of customers is highly depended on this segment. Psychological behaviour and observable behaviour of a human being could be judged through this process. If management wants to promote any destination then these things can play an essential role to observe the perception. In the above section of the paper it has been found that respondents choose destinations on the basis of their personality or character. Through this personality changes can be judged through memory theory. Memory theory mainly showcases the personality identification. Conclusion By the help of overall paper marketing consumer behaviour can be understood. By the help of this paper it could be said that perceptions of the consumers can be easily manipulated by offering different services and facilities. In this overall paper six destinations have been highlighted and three respondents also have been focused (Robertson, 1970). Perceptions of these three people have been judged through different analysis. After having the overall analysis it has been observed that perception of people over destination could be judged on the basis of cost, accommodation and transportation etc. Through this process consumer behaviour and its importance in the case of marketing also could be observed. Odysseus Is Not a Hero free essay sample
I have to write an essay, but it seems that every essay I write to the teacher, she just doesnt end up liking it, if you can please help me with what I am doing wrong that would be great. Thanks Not So Much a Hero A heroic person is who does courageous acts for the sake of his family and peers. In the epic poem, The Odyssey by Homer, the protagonist, Odysseus, has not been a heroic person throughout the poem. Odysseus, Son of Laertes, has journeyed off with his crew in search of returning home and has not met the requirements of being a hero. Instead he displays he is insensible towards others, disloyal, and untrustworthy. One characteristic that Odysseus presents is being insensible towards his crew members. An example of this is when Odysseus and his men are trapped in the Cyclopes cave, Odysseus says ââ¬Å"Now came the time to toss for it: who ventured along with me? Whose hand could bear to thrust and grind that spike in Cyclops eyeâ⬠(279). We will write a custom essay sample on Odysseus Is Not a Hero or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page This shows that Odysseus fails to symbolize what his members are feeling. For this reason because Odysseus want to decide who to help him brawl Cyclops with a toss of a coin, he does not show a heroic decision. Each time when Odysseus does something wrong the Gods, particularly Zeus, would give his men troubles on Odysseusââ¬â¢s actions. For example, just after wanting to depart the island, Zeus ââ¬Å"disdained the offering: destruction for my ships he had in shore and death for those who sailed them, my companionsâ⬠(512). This shows Odysseus has disobeyed Zeus; leading him to destruct Odysseusââ¬â¢s ships and men. Proving that Odysseus is endangering his crew members by his absent of feeling towards others. Not only does Odysseus lack feeling, but is untrustworthy to his peers. Odysseus has many conflicts of whether he is a trustworthy person. An example of showing Odysseus being untrustworthy is when the Cyclops asks why he is here, Odysseus answers ââ¬Å"He thought heââ¬â¢d find out, but I saw through this and answered with a ready lie: My ship? Poseidon. Lord. Who set the earth a trembleâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ (226). This shows that Odysseus dishonest his way out of things. A hero should be upright towards other people and not lie to achieve what he wants. Another conflict that Odysseus has with his men is when sailing towards Scylla, Odysseus says to himself ââ¬Å"But as I sent them on towards Scylla. I told them nothing, as they could do nothingâ⬠(785). This proves that he cannot be trusted by leaving him men to find out for them. This is the reason why Odysseus is untrustworthy to his crew mates. Odysseus has not only been not trusted by his men, but disloyal to his family. To be disloyal is when false to ones obligations. Odysseus has showed this many times throughout the poem. An example is when he has secret relationships with Circe even though married ââ¬Å"Circe, persuades Odysseus to stay, share her meat and wine, and restore his heartâ⬠(1054). This shows that Odysseus has cheated on his wife while out at sea. This proves that Odysseus is a treacherous man to his family. While Odysseusââ¬â¢s men kill a ram, Zeus punishes them by a thunderbolt, killing everyone but Odysseus ââ¬Å"The dangerous nymph Calypso lives and sings there, in her beauty and she received me, loved meâ⬠(985). This shows that Odysseus has sailed away without his men and going to Calypso. Showing how Odysseus is disloyal to his crew, leaving their bodies and only caring about himself. Odysseus has many characteristics that he shows throughout his journey, but not heroic. Dragging his members into his own faults by the Gods, being a untrustworthy leader, and a bad husband to his wife. Odysseus is not a heroic person, just arrogant. Overall in this epic poem, Odysseus shows no characteristics of a heroic person.

TNT Scenario Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
TNT Scenario - Essay Example Scenario planning is an important strategic tool for improving the effectiveness of strategy (Glesecke, 1998, p.43). It is not about scenario writing but is more related to strategic planning (Lindgre, and Bandhold, 2003 p.21). For example, TNT wants to obtain and maintain its strategic objectives in the European market. For this purpose, it decides that till the end of 2015, it will have to increase 5 per cent market share in the European market. To implement this change, more effective strategy is required in which the PEST (political, economic, social and technological) factors will be considered. Currently, the political environment looks stable and more business friendly than ever before. Subsequently, the cost inflation and cost of living are showing more stability because the entire European economy has recently recovered its debt crisis and the businesses and consumers are experiencing a rising confidence in the business activities. Moreover, the technological changes are tak ing place which can directly or indirectly put positive effect on the business activity. After this environmental scanning, TNT must increase its marketing and promotion cost along with providing and offering a range of incentives and discounts for attracting customers from untapped markets. In this regard, it is important to highlight that marketing cost should be increased by 30 per cent as this will increase more chances of attracting new customers. In this strategy, social media, print and electronic media should used. Technological advancement is the biggest threat for the company. The History of Jamaican Music in the 20th Century and its Influence on Essay
The History of Jamaican Music in the 20th Century and its Influence on 20th Century Music in the West - Essay Example The emergence of sound system dances allowed for the spread of Jamaican music throughout the Western world. Jamaican music evolved through commercialization, starting from a point of trying to appeal through human emotional issues, but eventually taking on the role as a central part of the political evolution of Jamaica during the latter 20th Century. As Bob Marley took on an international presence, he and others who followed brought reggae to the United States where it influenced the evolution of politically volatile rap music. The influences of Jamaican music on the Western world evolved from an island that was undergoing social and political change. Jamaican Music Development History of the Jamaican Sound The history of Jamaica is mixed between the African heritage and the colonialism of Europe. The main language of Jamaica of the island is English, but the traditional history of the region is that evolved from small villages on the island from the roots of an African heritage whi ch was untouched by European influence. From the evidence of the primarily European influences on daily life, it can be concluded that Jamaica is primarily a European influenced culture but has retained the flavor of Africa in its arts. According to Chang and Chen, ââ¬Å"the performance style of authentic folk music in Jamaica is African, no matter what the origins of the musicâ⬠.1 The proof of this is seen in Rastafarian renditions of European Bible hymns in which complicated percussive expressions and the insertion of syncopations not in the original music are decidedly African influenced. Additionally, the use of relaxed vocal timbre which obtains the sound from the face rather than from the head expresses an African style as opposed to a European influence.2 One of the more prevalent techniques that can be seen in Jamaica that is directly influenced from Africa is the call and answer group vocal technique. Most music in both the African and Jamaican format is conceived voc ally. This is so important that there exists a ââ¬Ësing-talkââ¬â¢ format that can be considered the precursor to rap. The call and answer form, which is fairly self-explanatory, is a core of African and Jamaican musical performance. Rural Jamaican music is rife with this format and it has been translated as an influential factor into ska, rocksteady, and reggae.3 The belief is that most of the African influences are from the period of time of colonial slavery, but this may not be the case. The theory that African influence is based solely on this time of slavery can be refuted when taken into consideration with the addition of indentured servants who came outside of slavery during the period between 1841 and 1865. The Rastafarians are defined by Ethiopian origins, by the Bongo Nation are influenced from ancestry in the Congo-Angola region of West Africa. What is now known by Rastafarians as Nyabinghi can be shown to be a direct result of the combination of theses traditions.4 According to Chang and Chen ââ¬Å"Jamaican popular music has always mixed the rhythm of Africa and the melody of Europeâ⬠5 During the early 20th century Jamaica was beginning to create a post-colonialism world with a distinct national identity. In the 1930s music that was specific to Jamaica began to emerge as a defining element of the culture. As development workers began to work towards improving conditions of villages and towns, organizing a network in order to gain control over distribution of resources and to

He further writes that online learning has become the most popular source of learning. A great scholar MitchellKaporà say getting information off internet is like taking a drink from fire hydrant. It has become now easier for education seeker to gain education on any time they want, there is no restriction of timings. There is no need to purchase the expansive books to study but now you can find all good stuff of your course on internet. The internet has tremendous effect on the education, it has made possible for everyone to get good education, some people who cant get admission in good universities or colleges they can get same good education on internet as some universities have online courses. There are many good tutorials on internet which are very much helpful to the students . There is not only the written stuff avaible but there are also video lectures avaible as well. So many scholars and educationist believe that internet is blessing .But it also has some drawbacks as well. There is also some information on internet which misleads the person. Some people upload the information on internet which is not valid and many students get astray. As there are many religious websites on which the wrong information is uploaded which further lead to the misunderstanding and religious wars. Some anti-relig ions are making websites about religion and upload the wrong information on website and which further lead to the wars. So in that sense it seems curse. Furthermore internet it has many disadvantages beside it advantages .A very annoying disadvantages is the pornography which has spoiled the youth of nation. There are about 60 million people among them are children, men and women are the victim of these things which is a sinful act and is considered as bad religiously as well as physically. Some people get addicted to pornography and just waste their lives. Mostly the youth of nation is spoiled through this internet, due to that the youngster are losing their interest in their studies they just waste the time on watching such guilty videos on internet and ruin their lives. The J K Rowling say The internet has been a boon and curse for teenagers .With the passage of time many students are getting away from their families , they do not give time to their families spend their precious time on the internet just watching videos, movies, playing online games and chatting with friends. As a scholar Philip Zimbardo say What troubles me is in ternet and electronic technology revolution. Shyness is fueled in part by so many people spending huge amounts of time alone, isolated on e-mail, in chat rooms, which reduces their face to face contact with other people Many children are becoming the victim of loneliness. So mostly parents say that internet is the cure which has spoiled their children. This may be the reason the as the time is passing by people lives the short lives and are mostly in physically fit. It has been revealed that in the century of internet mostly children are spoiled in early age and the reason for is only and only internet. As internet is source of communication as we mentioned before at the same time it also create some misconception as well. The well-known example is Facebook which is used by very much people. It waste your life and when you get addicted to it, you cant do anything important than Facebook .So news has said the Facebook is such website which has created so much misconception, due to it many life partner are separated due to just misconception by Facebook. There are many hackers on internet who steal your personal information and sometime it also lead to war when people of one country hack the secretive sites of other country and steal their secrets. It also has some disadvantages in business as well. So internet has advantages as well as disadvantages and some people consider it as blessing and some consider it the curse. A great scholar said that every silver cloud has dark linings and everything which has positive effect it do have some negative effects as well. Use of internet is just like gun, the gun is blessing if you just use it to defend yourselves but it is no more less than curse if you use it to kill the innocent people. However Internet can be blessing for us if we use it positively, all now depands on us either we are going to make it blessing or curse. Mostly people think that it do have some draw backs but its advantages overcome all the demarits of internet. It has very important role in almost all aspects of life, we can say that it has become part of our lives, world without internet will be totally different without it there will not be fast source of communication. Internet can become completely blessing if the government takes some effective steps, such as government should set an active department which should see over the activities happening on internet and should set some rule s and regulations and if someone is having the wrong use he should be stopped and a written warning notice should be given to him. The department should set rules like it should the ban the porn videos and it should all the websites which are spoiling the youth or society. By doing that no one will be able to put wrong commits about any religion and the religious war will be over and many problems will be solved, so internet will be the blessing and internet is really blessing. The End.

NUMMI would like to successfully reinvent its organization culture and produce high quality vehicles. NUMMI solution is to adopt a new production and management systems. To conclude this report, we will justify why adopting new production and management system will benefit NUMMI and help change its organizational culture. Problem Identification In1983 the New United Motor Manufacturing Inc., Toyota and GM joint venture experiment in a unlikely collaboration to bring a new fleet of profitable small cars to the United States. This partnership took place in Fremont, California in a factory plant called NUMMI. GM objective was to learn how to make small profitable vehicles and learn Toyota production and Management System. Toyota objective on the other hand wanted to simply begin producing vehicles in the United States. GM already had the infrastructure in place that Toyota needed; this lead to their partnership. The workforce at the original GM Fremont factory was well-known to be the worst in producing low quality vehicles in the GM ecosystem. ââ¬Å"The work force in those days had a horrible reputation, frequently going out on strike (sometimes wildcat strikes), filing grievance after grievance and even sabotaging quality.â⬠(Shook 2010) The objective of NUMMI was to devise a plan to help change the culture of the organization. NUMMI would measure there outcomes by successfully reinventing there organization culture and producing high quality vehicles. This level of achievement allowed NUMMI to go from being GMââ¬â¢s worst factory to later becoming one of its best. NUMMI employees where empowered to be accountable for their selves and build quality vehicles. ââ¬Å"What changed the culture was giving employees the means by which they could successfully do their jobs. It was communicating clearly to employees what their jobs were and providing the training and tools toà enable the m to perform those jobs successfully.â⬠(Shook 2010) GM Fremont plant workforce was once considered one of the companyââ¬â¢s worst production facilities. At the time, the plant workforce was producing some of the worst quality vehicles for GM; there level of absenteeism regularly ran over 20%, employees would habitually go on strike and sometime known to sabotaging quality. Without changing employees the once dysfunctional manufacturing plant was transformed into a model facility with a new company culture. By adopting Toyotaââ¬â¢s production and management system, NUMMI overcame the many obstacles that once prevented its ability to achieve the objectives above. Causes of the Problem As stated before, GM Fremont factory in 1983 was producing extremely low quality vehicles. To try and correct this problem, GM entered a joint venture with Toyota. Toyota faced many challenges partnering with GM. To begin GM didnââ¬â¢t know how to make small profitable vehicles. GM attempts to create small size vehicles ultimately failed thus why reaching out to Toyota. GM also wanted to reinvent its work force production and management systems. This joint venture would allow GM to learn how to make quality small profitable vehicles and more importantly learn Toyotas production and Management System. GM Fremont was well known for having an unsatisfactory workforce. The employees had a terrible company-employee relationship culture and reputation. Employees were known to habitually go on strike, filing grievances were common, and there were employees to go as far as sabotaging quality. ââ¬Å"Toyota had many concerns about transplanting perhaps the most important aspect of its production system ââ¬â its way of cultivating employee involvement ââ¬â into a workplace as poor as Fremont. Toyota wondered how workers with such a bad reputation could support it in building in quality. How would they support the concept and practice of teamwork?â⬠(Shook 2010) The work force culture obviously was not a positive one. Employees had an unfavorable outlook of the employers. Company -employee relationship moraleà was low thus affecting the companyââ¬â¢s culture. GM Fremont facility was failing, due to the plant lack of company-employee relationship culture, production ineffic iency and management systems. Possible Solutions Changing NUMMI company-employee culture was no easy task. Shook stated it best, ââ¬Å"the way to change culture is not to first change how people think, but instead to start by changing how people behave ââ¬â what they do. Those of us trying to change our organizationsââ¬â¢ culture need to define the things we want to do, the ways we want to behave and want each other to behave, to provide training and then to do what is necessary to reinforce those behaviors. The culture will change as a result.â⬠NUMMI empowered its employees to find and solve daily problems and make justified improvements as they see fit. By doing so NUMMI provided its workforce the necessary means to successfully do their jobs. In the article ââ¬Å"The Stop the Line Systemâ⬠was the primary example of this. Stop the line enabled employees with the obligation to stop the assembly line if and when there was a problem. This in turn reassured employees that the company value their opinions and trust them enough to make pertinent decisions. ââ¬Å"Managers have the responsibility to create a proper climate in which employees can develop to their fullest potential. Failure to provide such a climate would theatrically increase employee frustration and could result in poorer performance, lower job satisfaction, and increased withdrawal from the organization.â⬠(Steers and Porter 1983) ââ¬Å"What changed the culture at NUMMI wasnââ¬â¢t an abstract notion of ââ¬Å"employee involvementâ⬠or ââ¬Å"a learning organizationâ⬠or even ââ¬Å"cultureâ⬠at all. What changed the culture was giving employees the means by which they could successfully do their jobs. It was communicating clearly to employees what their jobs were and providing the training and tools to enable them to perform those jobs successfully.â⬠(Shook 2010) Secondly, NUMMI provided its work force with a since of membership. Employees desired commitment from their employers. NUMMI did not guarantee life time employment, no employer can guarantee that. Instead NUMMI devised a mutualà trust agreement stating that the last thing it wanted to do was lay of its employees. To reassure employees, ââ¬Å"NUMMI wrote into the contract the commitment that before anyone was laid off certain steps would have been taken, including reducing plant operating hours and cutting management bonuses. Employee motivation comes from assuring membership in the organization, rather than from buying and selling time, whatever the price tag. ââ¬Å"(Shook 2010) To further advance and change the culture of the organization; In the hiring process NUMMI allowed certain floor leaders take part in the hiring of their own team members. This in turn gives employees since of responsibility and authority, thus positively changing the culture dynamics of NUMMI company-employee relationship. These are only some of the reason why Shook suggests how NUMMI culture was changed. Additionally, there are many other possible solutions that can be implemented in order to continue to motivate and change an organization culture. For instance, NUMMI can introduce an employee reward/recognition system. The drive to be rewarded or recognized by ones employer should be ample motivation to keep employees satisfied. The reward system could be broken down between the all-around best and worst performers, reward can be tied to individual performance and provide the lead performing employees with an opportunity for advancement. A disadvantage to the reward system would be convincing the entire workforce to continuously give 100% even though there may be a gap in skills amongst fellow workers. ââ¬Å"The challenge therefore for organization is to develop reward system that are perceived to be fair and equitable and distributing the reward in accordance with employees beliefs about their own value to the organization.â⬠(Ramlall 2004) Another method to having an amazing company-employee culture is by having a good work environment. Employees want to go to work to in an environment with a friendly setting, productivity, promote teamwork, collaboration, are respectful, and encourages an since of inclusiveness. A organization never wants to be in a situation where an employee feels as if there working in a hostile environment. ââ¬Å"The consequences of employees perceiving they are not treated fairly can create a variety of options for employees. These options include the employee reducing their input through directly restricting their work output, attempting to increase their output be seeking salaryincreases, seeking more enjoyable assignments or simply withdrawal from the situation entirely, that is, quit the job and seek employment elsewhere.â⬠(Champagne 1989) Lastly, developing jobs positions that are meaningful and challenging where employee roles and duties are clearly defined will help foster a positive organizational culture. For instance, ââ¬Å"Cirque du Soleil, too, is committed to making jobs challenging and fulfilling. Despite grueling rehearsal and performance schedules, it attracts and retains performers by accommodating their creativity and pushing them to perfect their craft. Its employees also get to say a lot about how performances are staged, and they are allowed to move from show to show to learn new skills.â⬠(Nohria, Groysberg, Lee2008) Solutions and Implementation Due to Toyota production and management systems, NUMMI went from being GMââ¬â¢s worst plant to GMââ¬â¢s best plant in just one year. ââ¬Å"All with the exact same workers, including the old troublemakers. The only thing that changed was the production and management system ââ¬â and, somehow, the culture.â⬠(Shook 2010) There is no one specific solution for changing an organizations culture. The closet explanation explaining why NUMMIââ¬â¢s culture changed was the adoption of Toyotaââ¬â¢s production and management system. Toyotaââ¬â¢s system was more robust and organized compared to GMââ¬â¢s system. The workforce embraced Toyotaââ¬â¢s system because it yielded them more favorable results and allowed employees to finally feel part of the organization. Toyotaââ¬â¢s system offered NUMMI employees the opportunity to find and solve daily problems and make justified improvements as they see fit. By doing so NUMMI provided its workforce the necessary means to successfully do their jobs. Toyotaââ¬â¢s system also provided its work force with a since of membership. Employees wanted to be reassured that NUMMI was just as committed to the organization as they were. Other solutions that would keep the work force motivated and change origination culture is an employee reward/ recognition system, a good work environment/culture and developing job positions that are challenging and fulfilling. All of these solutions work hand in hand in order to create a well-balanced origination culture. Furthermore, of the five solutions; I believe the opportunity for NUMMI employees to find and solve daily problems and make justified improvements would be the most important. By doing so NUMMI provided its workforce the necessary means to successfully do their jobs. The case states ââ¬Å"Every person in a supervisory capacity, including hourly team leaders, visited Toyota City for two or more weeks of training at the Takaoka plant. The training included long hours of lectures but, most importantly, practical on-the-job training in which they worked alongside their counterparts to learn what was to be their job back in California. At the end of each training tour, we asked the trainees what they would most want to take back with them to Fremont of all they had seen at Toyota. Their answer was invariably the same: ââ¬Å"The ability to focus on solving problems without pointing fingers and looking to place the blame on someone.â⬠(Shook 2010) This in turn reassured employees that the company value their opinions and trust them enough to make important decisions. The organization allowing employees to solve problems will benefit the company long term in that it will boost workforce morale, employees donââ¬â¢t have to be afraid to solve problems without ramifications and there will be a better form constant communication between employees and managers. Disadvantages for an organization allowing employees to solve problems without managerial supervision can result in damage product, slowdown or stop of assembly line thus resulting in loss of money. Once implemented, the organization needs to ensure that the workforce (including managers) is on board with the changes in order to move forward. To do this, NUMMI must provide new training through workshops and seminars to all employees. After participating in either the workshop or seminars, Humane Resources should devise a form; having all employees sign that form in order to not have any miscommunication down the line. To sustain success, NUMMI should create team building events/demonstration for all employees to constantly remain on the same page. Currently, NUMMI provides its employees with the opportunity to find and solve daily problems and make improvements without fear of anyone pointing fingers. The workforce embraced the system so well that in one yearsââ¬â¢ time; NUMMI went from being GMââ¬â¢s worst plant to GMââ¬â¢s best. Justification Changing an organization culture is no easy task. When GM and Toyota decided to form there joint venture, no one could have predicted that they would become a success in a yearââ¬â¢s time. There was no one specific solution for changing NUMMI organizations culture. The closet explanation explaining why NUMMIââ¬â¢s culture changed was the adoption of Toyotaââ¬â¢s production and management system. Toyota management system benefited the organizational cultural in that it allowed NUMMI employees the opportunity to find and solve daily problems and make justified improvements. I believe the opportunity for NUMMI employees to find and solve daily problems and make justified improvements is the most important solution. The article stated that of all the solutions; being able to solve problems without anyone looking to place blame on someoneâ⬠was the most important organizational culture change. Adopting this organizational cultural change benefitted NUMMI in that the company now is GM best vehicle manufacturing plant. References 1. Champagne, P., & McAfee, B. (1989). Human Interaction with Nature in the Works of Aldo...
Human Interaction with Nature in the Works of Aldo Leopold and Elizabeth Bishop The poet Elizabeth Bishop and the naturalist Aldo Leopold share a keen power of observation, a beautifully detailed manner of writing, a love for the beauty of nature, and an interest in how people interact with the natural world. Like Leopold, Bishop examines human interactions with nature on both the personal and the ecological level. On the individual level, a hunterââ¬â¢s contact with the animal he or she is hunting changes his or her attitude toward nature in both Bishopââ¬â¢s poem ââ¬Å"The Fishâ⬠and Leopoldââ¬â¢s essay ââ¬Å"Thinking Like a Mountain.â⬠On the larger level, both Bishop in her poem ââ¬Å"The Mountainâ⬠and Leopold throughout the Sand County Almanac envision theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦For both narrators, this lack of emotional connection changes when they notice some striking detail about the wolf or fish which awakens them to the symbolic value of the animal and transforms their way of relating to nature. Leopold sees ââ¬Å"a fierce green fire dyingâ⬠(130) in the eyes of the wolf and senses that his neat equation of fewer wolves equals more deer is inadequate, and that wolves have an importance unknown to him. He goes on to develop a new conservation ethic, one that values wolves as well as deer and protects wild animals for their own sake and that of the ecosystem, not just for the pleasure of hunters. Bishopââ¬â¢s speaker notices five fishhooks dangling from the fishââ¬â¢s mouth and realizes how many times the fish has battled for its life and won. Its fighting spirit earns her respect and causes her to release the fish. The particular symbolic value that each writer finds in the wild animal is evident in his or her beautifully poetic descriptions of the animal. Each admires the animal for its undaunted courage in the face of a harsh existence. Bishop repeatedly uses words and images which personify the fish as a wise old warrior: the fish is ââ¬Å"battered and venerableâ⬠(8), his skin is ââ¬Å"like ancient wallpaperâ⬠(11), and the broken fishing lines that hang from his mouth are ââ¬Å"like medalsââ¬
